Tupac Shakur Tupac Shakur was an American rapper and actor from New York City whose searing social commentary, poetic lyricism, and complex thematic range made him one of the most influential artists in the history of hip-hop and a symbol of Black struggle and resilience. Albums such as "Me Against the World" (1995) and the double album "All Eyez on Me" (1996) are considered among the greatest in rap history. He was fatally shot in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas on September 7, 1996, and died six days later at age 25; his murder has never been officially solved.
