Timothy McVeigh Timothy McVeigh was a U.S. Army veteran who carried out the April 19, 1995, bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, killing 168 people, including 19 children, in what was at the time the deadliest act of domestic terrorism in United States history. Motivated by anti-government ideology and grievances related to the Waco and Ruby Ridge incidents, he constructed a truck bomb using agricultural fertilizer and racing fuel. He was convicted of murder and conspiracy in 1997 and executed by lethal injection at the Terre Haute federal penitentiary on June 11, 2001.
