# Samuel Ramos

Samuel Ramos was a Mexican philosopher best known for El perfil del hombre y la cultura en México (1934), a foundational psychoanalytic and philosophical inquiry into Mexican national character and its relationship to inferiority complexes rooted in colonialism. Drawing on Alfred Adler and European philosophical currents, he pioneered the philosophy of mexicanidad and profoundly influenced subsequent thinkers including Octavio Paz. He taught at UNAM for decades and served as director of its Faculty of Philosophy.
