Roger Penrose

Roger Penrose British mathematical physicist who proved, in collaboration with Stephen Hawking, that black holes are an inevitable consequence of general relativity. His 2020 Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded for his discovery that black hole formation is a robust prediction of Einstein's theory. At 89, the oldest physics laureate, he continues to pursue his controversial "consciousness from quantum gravity" hypothesis.
