Plato

Plato Plato was an ancient Athenian philosopher who, together with his teacher Socrates and his student Aristotle, founded the tradition of Western philosophy. His dialogues — including the Republic, the Symposium, and the Phaedo — explored ethics, epistemology, metaphysics, and politics through dramatically vivid philosophical conversation. His theory of Forms, positing a realm of perfect abstract entities underlying the imperfect material world, shaped Neoplatonism, Christian theology, and centuries of idealist philosophy.
