Pedro Armendáriz Pedro Armendáriz was one of the most powerful and versatile actors of Mexico's Golden Age cinema and a significant figure in Hollywood Westerns and international productions. He starred in a string of acclaimed films directed by Emilio Fernández, including 'María Candelaria' (1944) and 'Enamorada' (1946), and also worked with John Ford in 'The Fugitive' (1947) and 'Fort Apache' (1948). His final role was in the James Bond film 'From Russia with Love' (1963); suffering from terminal cancer, he took his own life in a Los Angeles hospital shortly after completing his scenes.
