Orhan Pamuk Turkish author and Istanbul native whose melancholic novels including "My Name Is Red," "Snow," and "The Museum of Innocence" explore the clash between Eastern and Western cultures through the lens of his hometown's history and memory. Nobel Prize in Literature 2006. His public acknowledgment of the Armenian genocide led to criminal charges in Turkey that drew international attention.
