Neil Armstrong

Neil Armstrong Neil Armstrong was an American astronaut and aerospace engineer who became the first human to walk on the Moon on July 20, 1969, during NASA's Apollo 11 mission. A naval aviator and test pilot before joining NASA, he commanded the historic mission and uttered one of history's most famous phrases: "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." He returned from the Moon to widespread acclaim and largely avoided the spotlight for the remainder of his life.
