Michelangelo

Michelangelo Michelangelo was an Italian sculptor, painter, and architect of the High Renaissance whose masterworks—the marble David (1504), the Pietà in St. Peter's Basilica, and the Sistine Chapel ceiling frescoes—are among the most celebrated works in the history of art. He exerted an unparalleled influence on the development of Western art and was considered the greatest artist of his time by his contemporaries. He lived to age 88 and continued to work in sculpture and architecture until shortly before his death.
