El Muñeco

El Muñeco Juan García Ábrego led the Gulf Cartel through the late 1980s and early 1990s, establishing a major cocaine smuggling corridor along the Texas-Mexico border and building a corrupt relationship with Mexican law enforcement and political figures. In 1995 he became the first Mexican drug trafficker to be placed on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted list. He was arrested in Mexico in 1996, stripped of Mexican citizenship, deported to the United States, convicted of drug trafficking and money laundering, and sentenced to 11 consecutive life terms.
