Juan Gabriel

Juan Gabriel Juan Gabriel, born Alberto Aguilera Valadez, was the most beloved Mexican singer-songwriter of the 20th century, composing over 1,800 songs and selling more than 100 million records worldwide. Known as "El Divo de Juárez," he rose from a poverty-stricken childhood in Ciudad Juárez to become a cultural icon whose flamboyant stage presence challenged social norms in Latin America. His death in August 2016 prompted an outpouring of grief across Mexico and the broader Latin world.
