# Jorge Negrete

Jorge Negrete was a beloved Mexican actor and ranchera singer who became one of the defining figures of Mexico's Golden Age of cinema in the 1940s and early 1950s. Known as "El Charro Cantor," he embodied the idealized image of the Mexican charro, combining rugged charisma with a powerful baritone voice, and starred in iconic films such as '¡Ay, Jalisco, no te rajes!' (1941). He was also a founding leader of the Asociación Nacional de Actores (ANDA) and married to actress María Félix at the time of his death in Los Angeles in 1953.
