# J.M. Coetzee

South African-Australian novelist whose works confront apartheid, violence, and colonialism with extraordinary moral rigor. His novel "Disgrace" won the Booker Prize (1999) and depicts post-apartheid South Africa's racial and moral complexity. Nobel Prize in Literature 2003. One of only four authors to have won the Booker Prize twice.
