Jenni Rivera Jenni Rivera was a Mexican-American singer known as "La Diva de la Banda," who became one of the most successful regional Mexican music artists of all time despite breaking into what was traditionally a male-dominated genre. Born in Long Beach, California, to Mexican immigrant parents, she sold over 20 million records and was celebrated for her candid storytelling about love, heartbreak, and survival. She died tragically on December 9, 2012, when her private jet crashed in the mountains of Nuevo León, Mexico.
