Jeff Bezos

Jeff Bezos was born in 1964 and studied electrical engineering and computer science at Princeton. His early training in systems thinking and quantitative analysis shaped a management style centered on process rigor, experimentation, and long time horizons.

Bezos founded Amazon in 1994 and scaled it from an online bookstore into a multi-sector platform spanning retail, logistics, cloud infrastructure, media, and devices. The operating model prioritized customer experience, reinvestment, and compounding infrastructure.

AWS launched as an infrastructure layer for developers and enterprises, becoming a major profit and innovation engine for Amazon. This move established Amazon as both a consumer commerce company and core provider of enterprise computing capacity.

Beyond Amazon, Bezos developed additional initiatives including Blue Origin and ownership of The Washington Post. These programs reflected parallel interests in long-duration technology, space systems, and institutional media infrastructure.
