Guillermo Haro Guillermo Haro was Mexico's greatest astronomer and a world-class astrophysicist who co-discovered the Herbig-Haro objects — small nebulae associated with newly formed stars — a phenomenon that became foundational to stellar formation science. He also discovered several supernovae, blue stellar objects, and planetary nebulae, and was the first Latin American elected to the U.S. National Academy of Sciences. He founded and directed the Tonantzintla National Astrophysical Observatory and was instrumental in building Mexico's modern scientific infrastructure.
