Gianni Versace Gianni Versace was an Italian fashion designer who founded the international luxury fashion house Versace in 1978, becoming one of the most celebrated and influential figures in the global fashion industry. His designs—characterized by bold colors, classical references, and a sensual aesthetic—were worn by supermodels and celebrities including Princess Diana, Elton John, and Madonna. He was murdered outside his Miami Beach mansion on July 15, 1997, by serial killer Andrew Cunanan; his sister Donatella has led the brand since his death.
