George Washington

George Washington George Washington was an American military officer, statesman, and Founding Father who served as the first president of the United States from 1789 to 1797. He led the Continental Army to victory in the American Revolutionary War, presided over the Constitutional Convention, and established many precedents for the new republic including the peaceful transfer of power. He is universally regarded as the "Father of His Country."
