# Franz Liszt

Franz Liszt was a Hungarian composer and virtuoso pianist of the Romantic era who was widely considered the most technically advanced pianist of his time, creating a phenomenon called "Lisztomania" that anticipated modern celebrity culture. He invented the symphonic poem as a musical form and made significant contributions to nearly every genre of classical music with compositions such as the Hungarian Rhapsodies, Liebesträume, and Piano Sonata in B Minor. In his later years he took minor holy orders in the Catholic Church and devoted himself to composition and teaching.
