# Frantz Fanon

Frantz Fanon was a Martiniquais psychiatrist and philosopher who became one of the foremost theorists of colonialism and its psychological and political consequences. His Black Skin, White Masks (1952) analyzed the psychological damage inflicted by racism and colonialism on Black identity, while The Wretched of the Earth (1961) — written in the heat of the Algerian War of Independence — argued for the necessity of revolutionary violence as a means of decolonial liberation. Fanon's work remains foundational to postcolonial studies, Black studies, and critical theory worldwide.
