# Emiliano Zapata

Emiliano Zapata is one of the most iconic figures of the Mexican Revolution and Latin American history. Leader of the revolutionary movement in Morelos, he championed agrarian reform under the motto "Tierra y Libertad" (Land and Liberty). He was ambushed and killed in 1919, but became an enduring symbol of peasant struggle and social justice.
