Donna Strickland

Donna Strickland Canadian physicist who won the Nobel Prize in Physics 2018 — the first woman to win in 55 years and only the third ever — for her role in co-inventing chirped pulse amplification, a technique that produces ultra-short laser pulses and underpins the world's most powerful lasers. Her technique enabled technologies from LASIK eye surgery to precision materials cutting.
