# Carlos Fuentes

Carlos Fuentes was one of the foremost novelists of the Latin American Boom, best known for La región más transparente (1958) and The Death of Artemio Cruz (1962), both landmark works of Mexican narrative fiction. A central figure in 20th-century Spanish-language literature, he also served as Mexico's ambassador to France. His prolific output and intellectual engagement made him a perennial candidate for the Nobel Prize in Literature.
