Bjarne Stroustrup Bjarne Stroustrup is a Danish computer scientist who designed and implemented the C++ programming language in 1979 while working at Bell Labs, extending C with object-oriented and generic programming features. C++ became one of the most widely used programming languages in history, powering operating systems, game engines, browsers, databases, and high-performance systems from Google Chrome to Microsoft Windows to the Mars rovers. He is a professor at Columbia University and continues to be actively involved in C++ standardization.
