Baby Face Nelson Lester Gillis, known as "Baby Face Nelson," was an American bank robber and associate of John Dillinger who holds the dubious distinction of killing more FBI agents than any other person in the Bureau's history, having shot and killed three agents over the course of his criminal career. Despite his youth and slight build, he was considered highly dangerous and prone to extreme violence. He was fatally wounded in a gunfight with FBI agents on November 27, 1934, near Barrington, Illinois, dying of his wounds later that evening.

Overview

Lester Joseph Gillis, also known as George Nelson and Baby Face Nelson, was an American bank robber who became a criminal partner of John Dillinger when he helped Dillinger escape from prison in Crown Point, Indiana. Later, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced that Nelson and the remaining gang of bank robbers were collectively "Public Enemy Number One".
