# Aristotle

Aristotle was an ancient Greek philosopher and polymath who studied under Plato and tutored Alexander the Great, and whose writings on logic, biology, physics, ethics, politics, rhetoric, and aesthetics formed the intellectual foundation of Western civilization for nearly two millennia. He founded the Lyceum in Athens and created the first systematic classification of living organisms. His logical system — syllogistic reasoning — dominated European intellectual life until the scientific revolution of the 17th century.
