Alfonso García Robles Alfonso García Robles was a Mexican diplomat and statesman who received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1982 for his central role in drafting the Treaty of Tlatelolco (1967), which established Latin America as the world's first nuclear-weapon-free zone among populated regions. He served as Mexico's foreign minister and was a tireless advocate at the United Nations for global nuclear disarmament. His work laid the legal foundation for subsequent nuclear-free-zone treaties worldwide.
