# Albert Camus

French-Algerian author and philosopher whose novels "The Stranger" and "The Plague" established him as one of the 20th century's defining literary voices. A founder of absurdist philosophy — which holds that humans must find meaning in an indifferent universe — he was also a journalist in the French Resistance. Nobel Prize in Literature 1957. Died in a car accident at 46.
